Senior Engineer – Purchase, Aerospace Division

Key Responsibilities

• Possess good knowledge of AS9100D requirements and NADCAP requirements applicable to aerospace procurement and supplier management.
• Have strong knowledge of aerospace procurement processes, workflow, and documentation requirements.
• Understand the basic standards and compliance requirements applicable to procurement for aerospace customers.
• Knowledge of machining, surface treatment, heat treatment, special processes, and related manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.
• Manage supplier development, supplier evaluation, and supplier performance activities.
• Handle global sourcing and procurement activities for aerospace components, raw materials, and services.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop potential suppliers suitable for aerospace industry requirements.
• Conduct supplier capability assessments considering quality, technical capability, delivery, cost, and compliance requirements.
• Possess strong communication, commercial negotiation, and supplier management skills.
• Coordinate with suppliers for quotations, order placement, delivery schedules, and commercial requirements.
• Place purchase orders for products, components, and raw materials based on approved business requirements.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time supply of materials and components.
• Track purchase orders from placement through final delivery.
• Coordinate and resolve logistics-related challenges, including customs clearance, imports, transportation, and delivery issues.
• Ensure availability of materials while avoiding both shortages and excessive inventory.
• Monitor stock levels and initiate replenishment orders as required.
• Review inventory ageing and ensure applicable ageing norms and control processes are consistently followed.
• Support the effective implementation and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to procurement.
• Ensure compliance with applicable procurement policies, quality procedures, customer requirements, and aerospace standards.
• Support procurement activities for New Product Development (NPD) programs.
• Source new materials, components, processes, and suppliers required for NPD projects.
• Coordinate with Engineering, NPD, Quality, Production, Planning, Stores, Logistics, and Finance teams for procurement-related activities.
• Monitor supplier quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, and overall performance.
• Establish and track relevant procurement KPIs.
• Prepare and submit monthly procurement and supplier performance reports to management.
• Drive cost reduction, localization, alternate sourcing, and supply-risk mitigation initiatives.
• Develop dual / alternate sources for critical aerospace materials, components, and processes.
• Maintain proper procurement documentation and traceability as required by aerospace quality systems.
• Prior experience in the aerospace industry is essential.
• Working knowledge of SAP or other relevant ERP / procurement software is required.
