Key Performance Area:

  • Own the execution of assigned NPD projects, including project planning, milestone tracking, risk identification, and closure of technical and manufacturing readiness actions.
  • Conduct weekly project-level NPD review meetings, publish Minutes of Meeting (MoMs), track action closures, and escalate deviations to the Manager as required.
  • Execute and ensure compliance with internal NPD/APQP stage-gate requirements for the development of rubber, thermoformed plastic, and metal tube components (where applicable).
  • Lead project-level technical feasibility reviews covering material selection, forming concepts, forming tooling, metal tube bending tooling, end-forming tooling, cycle time, yield, and cost feasibility, and provide recommendations for approval.
  • Participate in and support customer design and technical review meetings, addressing operational-level queries related to formed tube components.
  • Translate customer drawings, specifications, and performance requirements into manufacturable and cost-effective product designs.
  • Provide consolidated technical feasibility recommendations for customer RFQs and design changes, including the impact on tooling, cost, timelines, and validation, for management approval.
  • Review and recommend approval of 2D drawings, 3D models, and Engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) for rubber, plastic, and formed tube components, in accordance with the defined approval authority.
  • Coordinate with tooling vendors and internal tool rooms for forming tool design reviews, trials, modifications, and issue resolution.
  • Lead shopfloor trials during prototype and pilot production runs, conduct first-off approvals for new formed tube components, and support production ramp-up until Start of Production (SOP) stabilization.
  • Execute new part development activities in accordance with the APQP methodology.
  • Ensure comprehensive validation of new formed tube components through dimensional inspection, material testing, functional testing, and endurance validation.
  • Support the preparation and review of Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagrams in collaboration with Quality Assurance and Production teams.
  • Ensure the implementation of engineering change notices (ECNs), including updates to drawings, BOMs, validation requirements, and controlled release documentation.
  • Analyze plan-versus-actual deviations, trial failures, and customer feedback related to NPD projects.
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) for design, process, and quality issues.
  • Drive and support design and process improvements focused on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and improved manufacturability.
  • Allocate work, review technical deliverables, and ensure accountability of NPD engineers for achieving assigned project objectives.
  • Provide input for individual performance reviews, identify competency gaps, and support structured technical development of team members.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration, accountability, and ownership to ensure successful execution of NPD projects.
